North Berwick Highland Games

A huge WELL DONE  to all of the band members who took part in the bands FIRST EVER contest in the Novice Juvenile grade at North Berwick Highland Games on Saturday the 10th of August.

Despite nerves the band played well and received a very positive and constructive write up from the judges.

Up next though- THE WORLD PIPE BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Belgium Music Trip and Summer Rehearsals

JGHS Pipe Band have just returned from a fantastic trip to Belgium with the JGHS music department. Around half the size of our full band, the trip pipers and drummers enjoyed playing in the sunshine for a change!

As part of the school concerts, the pipe band successfully drew in a crowd to St Michealskirk in Ghent and to the bandstand in Blankenberge. We also enjoyed an impromptu performance in Ghent town square, with a little help from our music trip friends who entertained (and perhaps baffled) the inhabitants of Ghent with a Gay Gordons amongst other ceilidh dances.

A massive thanks to the JGHS music department for taking us all on a brilliant trip!

The band will now take a two week break before resuming practices in the run up to our first ever outdoor pipe band contests in North Berwick and of course, The World Pipe Band Championships in August.

Parents and band members- please keep an eye on your emails for further information.

For now though- enjoy your holidays!

Parade Success!

West Linton and James Gillespies Pipe Bands Parade through Linlithgow
The band has this weekend greatly enjoyed playing at its first Gala days, joining the pipes and drums of West Linton and District Pipe Band.

The James Linton massed pipes and drums marched through Peebles and Linlithgow at their Galas on Friday and Saturday.

This was the first parade that many (if not most) of the JGHS band had played, and it has proven to be invaluable experience for those who managed to perfect their marching skills!

Well done to everyone who took part and a big THANK YOU to West Linton and District Pipe Band for their continued support of JGHSPB.

Welcome to the JGHSPB blog.

The blog is just getting started, but we will be updating it with our progress very soon.

For now, you can view a film all about our band. It was made as part of the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships in March this year.  Click on the link below to watch the video.
